Heritage Week

Monday 28th March – Saturday 2nd April

The Church will be open daily from 11:00am to 4:00pm, for visitors to view our Photographic Exhibition of the history of the church and its people.

Objects of historic interest will also be on display.

There will be displays in Church including:

  • A Timeline
  • History of the Church Building
  • Incumbents
  • Formby Family
  • Uniformed Organisations
  • The Church School
  • Parish Events
  • War Graves and The Somme Cross

There will be a series of illustrated talks on local historical times and events:

Monday 28th March at 2:00pm – Local historian John PhillipsFormby – A Glimpse Over Time – An overview of the history of Formby from Viking settlement to the thriving town of today

Tuesday 29th at 7:30pm – Professor Sally SheardFrom Cradle to Grave: Formby Health Histories

Wednesday 30th at 2:00pm – Local author Tony Pawson on Formby in World War I

Thursday 31st at 7:30pmFormby Memories, an evening of reminiscence by Joan Rimmer, with musical accompaniment from Nic Dickson

Saturday 2nd April at 10:30am & 12 noonFurther Voices from the Churchyard – Revd Ted Woods will take visitors round the churchyard to hear more voices from beyond the grave

Refreshments and memorabilia will be available all week
